A 39-year-old taxi driver from Rio Claro was reportedly the victim of financial fraud and theft on Saturday, December 6, 2025, after being hired for a trip to Port-of-Spain. The driver handed the suspect $3,600 TTD and a subsequent $1,500 TTD (totaling $5,100 TTD) for a promised exchange for U.S. currency. After taking the victim's cellphone, the suspect exited the vehicle near Massy Stores in Curepe and fled with the cash.
