Marc Reetoo sustained gunshot wounds to his leg during a violent ambush by two masked men at a camp in the bushes off School Street in Esperanza Village. After the initial gunfire, Reetoo and his companion, Stefon Ramlal, fled into the dense brush to escape the gunmen who continued to search the area for survivors. Reetoo managed to hide until daybreak the following morning before calling for help and discovering that Ramlal had succumbed to his injuries. Reetoo was subsequently rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment of his injuries.
