A police officer and his cousin were lured to Valencia under the pretense of a hired job to collect money by an individual known only as Big Son. While traveling along Clarence Trace, Valencia Old Road, their vehicle was intercepted and blocked by six men who dragged the victims from the car and physically assaulted them. During the incident, Big Son joined the assailants as they robbed the pair of their valuables and moved them to a shack further into the trace where they were tied up. A ransom was demanded and paid by a relative, after which the victims managed to free themselves and seek medical attention. Police later recovered their vehicle, which had been left blocking the roadway at the scene of the abduction.
