The country has recorded its third homicide of 2025 following the death of 81-year-old Gangadaye Manichan. The elderly woman was at her home on Coconut Drive, Pepper Sauce Village, on Saturday, January 4th, when she and her 57-year-old daughter were attacked by a male relative armed with a cutlass and a piece of pipe. The victim had fallen ill, and the attack occurred while she was awaiting the arrival of emergency services. She passed away at the Mt. Hope Hospital on Monday afternoon. Her son, Premnath, appeared in court on wounding charges the same day she died.
